Glenn
Schaumburg is currently director of
the Aviation Department at the University of Oklahoma. During his tenure, the department
has seen unprecedented growth in both credit
and non-credit programs. He served as a team
member to help develop the Oklahoma City
Aviation/Aerospace Education Alliance and
was a member of the governor's Aviation Task
Force. In addition, he served as an instructional
designer on the development team of the USAF
C-17 transport plane. The team developed
Computer Based/Interactive Video Training
courseware for McDonnell Douglas Training
Systems, Inc. As a result of this effort,
the C-17 training package was acknowledged
by the U.S. Air Force as the "standard for all computer-based
courseware." Currently he is conducting
a joint study with the College of Engineering,
flight-testing the Federal Aviation Administration's
Global Positioning System.
Schaumburg served in the U.S. Air
Force and retired as a lieutenant colonel after
23 years of service. He was a B-52 instructor pilot
and served in numerous staff capacities. He holds
a bachelor's degree in zoology and physiology from
the University of Nebraska and a master's degree
in human relations from OU. He is a graduate of
the USAF Squadron Officer's School, the Air War
College and the Army's Command and General Staff
College. Schaumburg and his wife, Nancy, have three
daughters, all graduates of OU.
