Karen Holp, general
manager of KGOU Radio since 1988, has achieved
30 years of experience in public radio programming
and management. She has served as general manager
of KRWG-FM, Las Cruces, N.M., ( New Mexico State
University) and program director of both WUIS-FM,
Springfield, Ill., ( University of Illinois, Springfield)
and WMRA-FM, Harrisonburg, Va., ( James Madison
University). Ms. Holp has both a bachelor's and
master's degree from the University of Akron in
Ohio.
Ms. Holp served on the board of directors of
National Public Radio from 1988 to 1994 and as
president of Rocky Mountain Public Radio from 1986
to 1988 and 1994 to 1996. Currently she is president
of the Rocky Mountain Corporation for Public Broadcasting
(CPB), serving that board for over 20 years and
is a member of the board of directors of Western
States Public Radio. She has served on a
variety of industry panels, including the CPB Digital
Advisory Panel in 2002, CPB Program Fund panel
for 1998, the PTFP review panel for 1997 and 1999 and the CPB Futures Panel in 1996.
Active in community affairs, Ms. Holp serves as program
chair for Jazz in June Inc., an annual series of
three, free jazz concerts that present artists ranging
from emerging local talent to national notables such
as Ellis Marsalis and The Airmen of Note. She also
serves on the boards of directors for the Cultural
Development Corporation in Oklahoma City and the
Norman Ballet Company.
